La Plata Campus Advisories
Emergency Siren Test
CSM will test its emergency siren and campus-wide public address system at the La Plata Campus at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 10. The test is part of the Town of La Plata’s test scheduled for the same day. The college’s new system was installed on the campus to give officials an additional resource for connecting with individuals on the campus in the event of an emergency.
The test will include an audible message, followed by a single siren. After sounding, the public address system will announce that the test is complete.
An emergency siren was also installed at the Prince Frederick Campus, and one will be installed at the Leonardtown Campus in the near future as part of the college’s ongoing efforts to communicate quickly and efficiently with campus visitors, students, and employees.
Bike Event to Limit Access
There will be limited access to the La Plata Campus on Sunday, May 18, 2008 starting at 8 a.m. as CSM becomes the location for the Southern Maryland Criterium Bike Race. South Campus Drive will be closed, and North Campus Drive will be open to Parking Lot 2 only. All other traffic on campus that day will be pedestrian except for the bikes.
