Visiting Summer Students
Students who are enrolled in another institution may take courses at CSM over the summer and then transfer these credits back to their home institution. For more information, contact the Academic Advising office at 301-934-7574.
The College of Southern Maryland's Scholars Program is a selective admission program for students who are seeking exciting opportunities and academic challenges. When admitted into the program, you will be eligible to enroll in specially designed honors courses. These courses will be distinguishable by the level of reading, critical thinking, writing, class interaction, research, and rigor that they contain. Students who participate in the CSM Scholars Program may be eligible for special transfer opportunities at four-year institutions, such as the Maryland Transfer Advantage Program offered through the University of Maryland College Park.

Active duty military personnel should follow the admission procedures for full-time, part-time, or transfer students, as appropriate.
CSM will grant credit for courses taken from service schools and other agencies recommended in the American Council on Education's National Guides to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services, current editions. Credits are limited to those courses which the college determines to be applicable to its degree and certificate programs. Credits will not be granted for courses not recommended or not found in these publications. Before any evaluation can be made, records for each school or agency attended must be submitted to the Admissions Office.The College of Southern Maryland is a member of SOC (Service members Opportunity Colleges). SOC is a worldwide consortium of colleges and universities which assists military personnel in completing degree programs by reducing residency requirements, sharing course information and increasing opportunities for transfer of credits between member institutions. Students should meet with the SOC advisor at their primary institution to complete a degree contract to ensure maximum transferability of credits. College of Southern Maryland and the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) offer a dual admission and concurrent undergraduate enrollment option for students participating in certain associate's degree programs.
