VOLLEYBALL'S ASHLEY WOLFE NAMED
ALL-AMERICAN

10, 2009 -
Sophomore
Ashley Wolfe
was named All-American Honorable Mention, by the NJCAA. The Middle
Blocker was 8th in the country in hitting efficiency (44%), and led the Hawks to
a 30-6 record, and a ranking of 17th in the country. Wolfe was also one of
the top performers in the MDJUCO conference, leading the conference in hitting
efficiency, and finishing 6th in blocks.

FALL ATHLETES SELECTED FOR POST SEASON
HONORS
November 16, 2009 -
The College of Southern Maryland has completed one of its'
most successful fall seasons, with all three teams posting winning records.
The volleyball team finished the season 30-6, ranked 17th in the country.
The team advanced to the championship game of the Region XX Tournament.
Men's soccer also advanced to the championship game, finishing the season
11-4-1. Women's soccer posted their best record in eight years, finishing
the season with a 9-6 record.
Several players were selected for post-season
honors. From the volleyball team
Ashley Wolfe

Shelby Barnes
were First Team All Region XX,
Sarah Cobaugh
was selected to the Second Team, and
Mazi Tucker
was Honorable Mention. Ashley Wolfe was also
nominated for All-American.
Members of the men's soccer team to receive
honors were;
Ryan Russell,
Mulu Asihel, and
Rudy Morales, who were selected First Team Region XX.
Brad Powers
and
Antonio Barone
were selected to the Second Team. Ryan Russell
was also nominated for All-American.
Three women's soccer players were selected second
team All MDJUCO;
Rachael Shapelow,
Alex Baker, and
Kelsey Worrill.

VOLLEYBALL TO FACE POTOMAC STATE IN FIRST REGION XX
TOURNAMENT MATCH

26, 2009 -
The CSM volleyball team has been seeded second, in the Region
XX Tournament, which will be played this weekend, Oct. 31 - Nov. 1 at
Hagerstown. The Hawks will face the third seed Potomac State in their first game
at 9:30 AM on Saturday. The tournament is double elimination, with the
championship game on Sunday, Nov. 1.

VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS CATONSVILLE IN FINAL
HOME MATCH
October
20, 2009 -
The CSM Volleyball
team defeated Catonsville 3-0, in their final home match of the season. It
was also the final of three "Dig Pink" matches, with both teams wearing pink
uniforms to promote cancer awareness.
Each Catonsville player received a pink carnation
for joining CSM in the "Dig Pink" promotion. Each CSM player received a
bouquet of flowers before their final home
match
in the "Hawks Nest". In addition the four
CSM Sophomores, Katlin "Bubba", Gardiner, Kelsey Loss, Carlie Wood, and Ashley
Wolfe, each received a gift bag, and a collage of pictures prepared for them by
their freshman teammates.

LADY HAWKS SWEEP CHESAPEAKE
September
29, 2009 -
The CSM volleyball team swept Chesapeke 3-0, winning 25-10,
25-16, 25-7. The 20th ranked Hawks improve to 21-4 overall, and 5-0 in
MDJUCO, while Chesapeake falls to 2-10, 0-5 in MDJUCO play.

VOLLEYBALL WINS AT HARFORD
September 18, 2009 -
The CSM
volleyball team won their 14th match in a row, as they defeated Harford in
four games, 25-20, 25-9, 23-25, 25-14. The Hawks are now 16-2 overall,
and 3-0 in MDJUCO play.

HAWKS CAPTURE CSM
VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
September 14, 2009 -
The CSM volleyball team won the CSM Invitational Tournament,
defeating Potomac State in the final 3-0. It was a rematch of the final
from last year's tournament, which Potomac State won in five games. This
year CSM had no problems in the final, winning 25-19, 25-12, 25-18.
Cape Fear defeated Pitt (NC) to capture third
place. It was the only match to go five games, as the Sea Devils prevailed
25-13, 20-25, 26-28, 25-21, 16-14.
CSM's Shelby Barnes and Sarah Cobaugh were
selected to the All Tournament Team, while Ashley Wolfe was the tournament MVP.
The Hawks are 14-2, have now won 12 matches in a
row, and are currently ranked 19th in the country.

CSM TO HOST VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND
September 9, 2009 -
The College of Southern Maryland will host the 2nd CSM
Volleyball Invitational Tournament Friday, September 11 and Saturday, September
12. Eight teams from three different states will be competing. Last
year CSM lost in the championship match to Potomac State, in an exciting five
game match. This year the Hawks are coming in after capturing the Howard
Tournament last weekend, where they won six matches without losing a game.
CSM will play Friday at 3:00 PM vs. Howard, and
at 7:00 PM against Cape Fear (NC). On Saturday the Hawks will face
Catonsville at 12:00 PM, and will play again at either 2:00 PM or 4:00 PM.

VOLLEYBALL MATCH vs. BALTIMORE CANCELED
September 4, 2009 -
The volleyball match against Baltimore, scheduled for
Tuesday, September 8 has been canceled. Baltimore will not be fielding a
volleyball team this season.

VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS ALLEGANY IN CONFERENCE
OPENER
September 2, 2009 -
The CSM volleyball team won their MDJUCO opener, sweeping
Allegany 3-0 (25-15, 25-11, 25-8). CSM improves to 5-2 for the season,
while the Trojans drop to 0-1.
