Course Description

Phlebotomy Technician Practicum

Course: HTH-7250
Continuing Education Units: 9.0
Prerequisites:
(1) Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers Card.
(2) Must take HTH-7210 Phlebotomy Technician Course and HTH-5000 Introduction to Healthcare during the same semester.
(3) Health data forms, social media contract, and an online background investigation.

Appropriate CPR certification is also required by the state in order to obtain certification. CSM offers a course that meets this criteria if you do not already have it: HTH-6650 - AHA Healthcare Provider Course

Description:

Get hands-on, practical experience in the Phlebotomy field. Learn more about collection, preparation, and transportation of blood samples by observing in the workplace. An opportunity to continue practicing your skills, this course is designed to get you started on your way towards certification as a phlebotomy technician. Course culminates in sitting for national certification. The phlebotomy practicum is scheduled as 90 hours completed in two week increments during daytime work hours. Health Data forms, social media contract, and an online background investigation are required.
