This course familiarizes the student with the business mechanics of the medical office. Medical offices can include, but are not limited to, physicians’ offices, clinics, laboratories, hospitals, medical departments, hospital admitting departments, hospital administrative departments, and insurance and billing companies. The goal of the student is to learn the steps necessary in the medical claims processing cycle, from the time the patient registers to the final claim payment. Learn to recognize medical insurance types, insurance terminology, parts of the insurance claim form and identify the requirements to reach the medical claims reconciliation. Textbook required.
Prerequisite: Students must have a high school diploma or equivalent to sit for the certification exam. Recommend typing skills of 25 WPM.
