Financial Assistance
Students taking part in Continuing Education courses and
programs may be eligible to
receive financial assistance. Types of assistance that may
be available include:
FACTS Interest Free Payment Plan (NEW)
To help meet your educational expenses, CSM is proud to
offer FACTS as a convenient budget plan. This is not a
loan program. You have no debt, there are no interest or
finance charges assesed, and there is no credit check.
The cost to budget your interest-free monthly payment plan
is a $35 per semester nonrefundable enrollment fee.
See the FACTS
brochure (PDF, 272 KB) for more information.
Continuing Education Tuition Assistance
CSM
offers financial assistance for students enrolled in a
Continuing Education occupational/workforce training program. To
be eligible the student must demonstrate "financial
need." This need is determined by filing a Tuition
Assistance Application with the Financial
Assistance Department (FAD).
Applicants may download the application or request one from
FAD at any campus.
Employer Tuition Assistance or Reimbursement
Check with your employer to see if all or part of your
educational costs can be paid up front, or if it is possible
to obtain reimbursement after successful completion.
Workforce Investment Act Assistance
Certain individuals who meet Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
criteria may be eligible to have all or part of their course
costs funded by WIA. To learn more, contact Southern
Maryland Works, Inc. at 301-885-0020.
Veterans Benefits
Some building trades programs may be approved for On
the Job Training (OJT) or Apprenticeship benefits under
the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) if the student
works for a participating employer. Visit
www.gibill.va.gov, or call toll free, 888-442- 4551,
for more information.
Tax Deductions
Some job-related Continuing Education training may be
deductible on students' federal income taxes. Consult your
tax adviser for more information.
Career Education Alternative Loans
Based on the student's credit history, these loans can
be obtained for tuition, fees, books and supplies,
and other educational expenses. These are not federal
student loans. They are secured directly from a participating
lender. Many banks and other lending institutions offer
alternative loans. CSM does not specifically endorse
any lender. Students should visit the web site of the
lender they are interested in or search for alternative
loans at a student loan research site, such as
www.estudentloan.com/.
