Welcome to the College of Southern Maryland. The Institutional Equity and Diversity Office sponsors Cultural cafés, provides academic enrichment and celebrate diversity awareness through programs for Asian, Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, African American Heritage and Women History Month, as well as other cultural celebrations. A list of planned activities can be found on the Institutional Equity and Diversity website under events.
The website list reference sources on a wide variety of multicultural topics. Faculty may use this site to select information to include in class discussion or curriculum. Students may find an area of interest for self study, class work or personal enrichment.

Based on the African American Women’s Voice Project, Shifting: The Double Lives of Black Women in America’s author Dr. Kumea Shorter Gooden will discuss how African American women feel pressure to compromise their true selves as they navigate America’s racial and gender bigotry.
Refreshments will be served.
