POSITION DESCRIPTION FOR: Student Success Center Coordinator
Ø Coordinates the implementation of processes that support student success
Ø Coordinates services for students through the Early Warning Process
Ø Responds to faculty or staff on academic referrals
Ø Coordinates diagnostic testing and PLATO Registration
Ø Supervises the tutoring services at the La Plata Campus
Ø Coordinates tutoring for all campuses, updating the tutoring web page
Ø Develops and maintains the tutor training program
Ø Sets up one-on-one tutoring as needed
Ø Maintains the tutoring records for the college, monitors the tutoring budget for both the operational and grant funding tutoring
Ø Determines the budget needs for tutors, supplies and materials
Ø Coordinates the services offered in the Learning Lab
Ø Overseas the day to day operation of the Learning Lab
Ø Assists students in the use of course specific software and tutorial software
Ø Hires, trains and supervises work study and student assistants for the Learning Lab
Ø Maintains tutoring and learning lab databases (in Access)
Ø Maintains the records of Learning Lab and tutorial software
Ø Evaluates Student Success services and submits an annual report to the Director
Ø Master’s degree in related field
Ø Experience in higher education (preferably in a Learning Assistance Center, Tutorial Center)
Ø Knowledge of and experience in using instructional technologies/software applications
Ø Demonstrates organizational, managerial, supervisory, and human relations skills
Ø Excellent Interpersonal skills
Ø Demonstrated ability in word processing, PowerPoint, database and spreadsheet skills
Ø Demonstrated ability to work effectively with groups in completing a task
Ø Three years supervisory experience
Ø Tutors on the La Plata Campus
Ø Learning Lab Support staff
Ø Students
Ø Works closely with the following departments and offices: Advising and Career Services, Admissions and Orientation, Office of the Registrar, Financial Assistance Department and academic departments, and the Leonardtown and Prince Frederick campuses and the Waldorf Center to coordinate services to “at risk students”
Ø Contacts faculty regarding software needs
Ø Contacts vendors (models, lab supplies, and software – institutional licenses)
Ø Contacts vendors regarding course materials
Ø College policies, mission and goals (general, software and copyright, computer security)
Ø DCTAL Guidelines as related to VSST
Ø ACE and AACROA regulations
Ø Buckley Amendment
Ø ADA requirements
6. Fiscal Responsibility: Describe the fiscal responsibility. Include total dollars that the position directly controls.
Ø Provide input to a cost center budget
7. Physical Working Environment: Describe the physical working environment and list any hazardous and toxic substances used in the performance of duties.
