Scholarship Finder Scholarships

The following is a list of scholarships administered by the College of Southern Maryland Foundation.

Please note: Many scholarships are available on an on-going basis, however some change each semester or year.

Allied Health/Nursing 

The Arc of Southern Maryland Nursing Scholarship

  • Must be a resident of Southern Maryland (Calvert, Charles or St. Mary's counties)
  • Must have completed one year in the CSM Nursing Program with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • The scholarship recipient must successfully complete a background check, conducted by The Arc of Southern Maryland
  • The scholarship recipient must agree to complete a nursing internship involving 4.5 hours per week for a minimum of one semester. The work will include side-by-side training with a  Registered Nurse (RN) performing assessments, and preparing and delivering Microsoft Office PowerPoint training presentation to direct care staff at one of The Arc of Southern Maryland facilities. The scholarship recipient will participate with clients during their day program activities. Additionally, the scholarship recipient must be willing to travel within the Southern Maryland Tri-County area

Brock Nikolas Guerrieri Memorial Scholarship

  • Major: Second Year of the Nursing program
  • Calvert County residency required
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required
  • Preference given to non-traditional career student
  • Recipient required to write thank you note explaining the importance of this scholarship to their educational and career goals

Bryce T. Sanders Memorial Scholarship

  • Third or Fourth Semester student in Associate Degree Nursing Program
  • Be a resident of Southern Maryland 
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in prior academic study
  • Essay: 250 words maximum entitled "Life Experiences That Have Influenced Me to Choose Nursing."

Charles County Nursing and Allied Health Programs Scholarship

  • Major: Must be accepted into CSM's Nursing or Allied Health Programs
  • Charles County residency required
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA required
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need
  • Recipients must sign a form promising that they will seek employment in Charles County to the best of their ability upon completion of their program
  • Recipients must attend the CSM Foundation's Scholarship Reception to meet the supporters of the scholarship fund

Chiramonte Hope Scholarship 

  • Major: Preference given to students majoring in health care or STEM related fields
  • Student and/or parent (if parent is claiming student as a dependent) has lost employment due to the current economy
  • Must explain hardships/challenges through an essay of 100 words or less
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year)

Christopher Chinault Scholarship

  • Preference will be given to nursing students majoring in Respiratory Therapy

Connie Kite Memorial Scholarship

  • Must be a resident of Southern Maryland
  • Must be enrolled in CSM Nursing Program
  • Must possess and maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Preference given students who demonstrate financial need (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year)
  • Required Essay: Please write 100 word essay explaining your interest in the nursing field and long term goals.

Ethelmae M. Lilly Nursing Memorial Scholarship

  • Must be accepted in the CSM Nursing Program
  • Must be resident of Southern Maryland
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA required to receive and maintain award
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year)   
  • Required Essay: Describe your interest in the nursing field and your long-term goals in 100 words.

James Mitchell Nursing Scholarship

  • Major: Nursing degree program
  • Charles County residency required
  • Must be enrolled at least part-time

Joanne Zwick Nursing Scholarship

  • Major: Student entering 3rd or 4th semester of Nursing degree program
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 in all courses related to nursing major
  • Required Essay: 1-3 pages reflecting personal nursing goals that closely emulate the beliefs and interests of Joanne Zwick:
    • An interest in Oncology nursing or those clients experiencing life threatening diseases
    • A belief in holistic nursing
    • A view of the educator role as a facilitator of learning

Kavetsky Family Foundation Endowment Fund

  • Major: Engineering or Nursing
  • Must be resident of Southern Maryland
  • May be part-time or full-time
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year)   

McWilliams Family Endowment Fund

  • Majors Nursing or Healthcare

Susan N. Behmke Legacy Scholarship

  • Must be a first or second semester student in the Practical Nurse (PN) or Associate Degree Nursing Program
  • Must be a Calvert, Charles, or St. Mary's County resident
  • Must possess and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5
Thomas F. Goldsmith, III Scholarship Endowment
  • Major: Nursing
  • Must be a Charles County
  • Preference given to Waldorf Elk member, spouse, or child

Tri-County Forty & Eight Nursing Scholarship

  • Major: Second Year of the Nursing program
  • Completion of a separate application is required - application available here.
  • Must be enrolled at least half-time

Virginia B. Darrow Memorial CSM Nursing Scholarship

  • Major: Preference given to a First Year student of the Nursing program
  • Graduate of Patuxent High School (PHS) or graduate of Calvert County Public School System if no eligible candidates from PHS
  • Calvert County residence required
  • Not a member of any department of the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service of Calvert County
  • Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need

Business

Calvert Chamber of Commerce Endowment Fund

  • Major: Business related degree program
  • Calvert County residency required

The Charles County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

  • Must be a Charles County resident
  • Must possess and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA 
  • Must be a Business Major
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Essay: In 100 words describe how you believe the Charles County Chamber of Commerce can positively impact the community. 

 The McNelis Family Scholarship 

  • Major: Accounting, and Advanced Accounting student preferred
  • Must have a minimum 3.2 GPA
  • Must be a Tri-County resident
  • Must be enrolled full-time
  • Must possess a high school diploma
  • Required Essay: 100 word essay (minimum) explaining their long term professional goals

Old Line Business Program Annual Scholarship Fund 

  • Major: Business
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA

Solomons Business Association Scholarship

  • Must be a Calvert County resident
  • Must be a graduate of a Calvert County high school
  • Preference given to students majoring in Business, Marketing, or Design
  • Recipients are required to meet with the SBA Board at one of their meetings after receiving the scholarship AND are required to help with one SBA Event during the year

Fine Arts and Humanities

Brad and Linda Gottfried Art Scholarship

  • Major: Fine Arts
  • Must be resident of Southern Maryland
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA in prior academic study for high school students or minimum 2.0 GPA for college students
  • Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year)
  • Essay requirement: Please describe your interest in art in 100 words.

C. Emmitt Woodey Theater Scholarship Fund

  • Major: Music or Performing Arts
  • Must be a resident of Southern Maryland
  • Must demonstrate financial need

Dennis Lake Smith Memorial Scholarship

  • Must be a Calvert County resident
  • Must be enrolled in visual arts courses
  • Must possess high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Essay: Explain your interest in the arts

Gary D. Smith Memorial Scholarship

  • Major: Communications, photography, the visual arts or music
  • Must submit a 100-word essay describing your interest in communications, photography, the visual arts or music 
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need

Jerome A. Zanelotti, Sr. Memorial Scholarship

  • Must be a resident of Southern Maryland (Calvert, Charles or St. Mary's counties)
  • Major: Fine Arts with a preference for Theater Major
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0 required

Joseph F. Rice & Mae Irene Fauth Memorial Scholarship

  • Major: Humanities
  • Awarded to an outstanding Freshman for their Sophomore year
  • Must be full time

Tony Hungerford Memorial Art Scholarship

  • Major: Fine Arts
  • Must be a full time student
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA required (incoming students and current students)
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need

General

Adjunct Faculty Scholarship (Merit-Based)

  • Must be a resident of Calvert, Charles or St. Mary's County
  • Must be enrolled at least half time (6 credit hours)
  • Must posses a 3.25 GPA for a high school student or a 3.0 for a college student
  • Must submit a 250-word essay on life long learning and its importance in today's world
  • Must submit two letters of recommendation from a current/former instructor and/or employer
Adjunct Faculty Scholarship (Need-Based)
  • Must be a resident of Calvert, Charles or St. Mary's County
  • Must be enrolled at least half time (6 credit hours)
  • Must posses a 2.25 GPA for a high school student or a 2.0 for a college student
  • Must submit a 250-word essay on life long learning and its importance in today's world
  • Must submit two letters of recommendation from a current/former instructor and/or employer
  • Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need 

Albert L. Elder, Jr. Family Memorial Scholarship

  • May be enrolled part-time or full-time

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Sigma Alpha Lambda Chapter Scholarship

  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Tri-County residency required
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA required
  • Must be enrolled full time and demonstrate extracurricular involvement 
  • Required essay: 1 page typed essay explaining community or public service involvement
  • Must provide a personal statement of his/her educational objectives 

The Arc of Southern Maryland Communication/Media Studies Scholarship

  • Must be a resident of Southern Maryland (Calvert, Charles or St. Mary's counties)
  • Must have completed one year, or the equivalent of 24 credit hours, of communication/media studies courses, that preferably includes a journalism writing course and/or a TV production course, with a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • The scholarship recipient must successfully complete a background check, conducted by The Arc of Southern Maryland
  • Scholarship recipient must agree to complete a communication internship involving ten hours per week for a minimum of one semester. The work will include helping to craft media releases, write articles for the electronic newsletter, maintain The Arc's social media content, update the website, light administrative work, attend select networking functions either day and/or evening, assist the start-up and production of a cable access show, and other duties as needed for the successful development and brand development of The Arc of Southern Maryland. Additionally, the scholarship recipient must be willing to travel within the Southern Maryland Tri-County area

Besche Family Scholars and Mentoring Program Annual Scholarship

  • Must be a Charles County Resident
  • Must be enrolled full-time (15 credits per semester)
  • Must possess and maintain a 3.4 cumulative GPA
  • Financial need is a consideration
  • Selected applicants will be required to interview with the scholarship review committee prior to a decision/awarding
  • Recipients are required to meet with the donor for at least one mentoring meeting per semester
  • Essay requirement: Describe your long-term career goals (no less than 100 words)

Brad and Linda Gottfried Against All Odds Annual Scholarship

  • Student has overcome a personal difficulty
  • Must be resident of Southern Maryland
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA in prior academic study for high school students or minimum 2.0 GPA for college students
  • Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year)
  • Essay requirement: Please describe your challenges and long-term goals in 100 words.

Castles and Foundations Scholarship

  • Must be a St. Mary's County resident
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA in prior academic study to receive

Charles County Woman's Club Scholarship

  • Charles County residency required
  • Must be at least 25 years of age
  • Must completed at least 12 course credits
  • Preference given to displaced homemakers and/or single parents
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year)

Concerned Black Women of Calvert County- Women in Transition Scholarship

  • Calvert County residency required
  • Must be a returning adult
  • Must be a single parent or grandparent raising children
  • Must possess and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year)

CSM Alumni Association Scholarship

  • Must be a current student
  • Must be enrolled full-time
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA at CSM required
  • Financial need required (Must have a FAFSA on file for current academic year) 

CSM Foundation -Realize Your Potential Scholarship

  • Student has endured obstacles and hardships with regard to reaching career goals and/or a college education
  • Be a resident of Southern Maryland 
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA in prior academic study
  • Posses a high school diploma or its equivalent 
  • Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need (Must have a FAFSA on file for current academic year)

CSM Leonardtown Student Association Kick Off Scholarship

  • CSM students who attend three separate sessions of the Leonardtown Kick Off event
  • Signature must appear on the sign-in sheet from the Kick Off event
  • Must complete an essay between 500-700 words answering: How has Kick Off impacted your preparedness for college?

CSM Prince Frederick Student Association Scholarship

  • Tri county residency required
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 required
  • Must be enrolled at the Prince Frederick campus for at least one 3 credit course
  • Must provide 2 sealed letters of recommendation from educational or professional sources
  • Must submit an essay between 200-250 words answering: Describe your educational experience. 

Dr Nallan Ramakrishna Scholarship

  • Minimum 2.0 GPA and prior academic study to receive
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA required to maintain
  • May be part time or full time
  • Financial need required

Educational Systems Federal Credit Union Special Scholarship

  • Must be Tri-County resident
  • Must be a current CSM student
  • Must have completed at least 24 credit hours towards an Associate Degree at CSM
  • Must be a member of Educational Systems FCU

Eric Sawchak Memorial Scholarship (2014-2015 only)

  • Must be a graduate of a Charles County High School
  • Must be enrolled at least half time

  • Preference given to a first year student who was a member of their highs school golf team.  

Fanny Louise Sullivan Sine Scholarship

  • Charles County residency required
  • Must be enrolled at least half-time 
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required
  • Preference given to single parent
  • Must demonstrate financial need

Florence B. Trueman Scholarship

  • Must be a Calvert County Resident
  • Must be a graduate of a Calvert County High School
  • Must be enrolled full-time (12 or more credits per semester)
  • Must possess and maintain an minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Must demonstrate financial need (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year)
  • Essay requirement: Explain any hardship(s) that you may have

Hank Willoughby Foundation, Inc. Scholarship

  • Must demonstrate financial need.
  • Be a resident of Southern Maryland

Harland and Lula Cravat Scholarship

  • Must be a Charles County resident
  • May be part time or full time

Helen and Henry Lawlor Scholarship

  • Must be a Charles County resident and preference will be given to residents of the Town of La Plata
  • Must be a single parent
  • Completed at least 9 credits with a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credits
  • Financial need required (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year)

Helen and Mickey Todd Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled full time
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in prior academic study
  • Minimum average 3.0 GPA in high school required
  • Preference given to Lackey High School graduates
  • Preference given to Krikstan Family descendants

Home Towne Real Estate Scholarship

Maurice J. McDonough Scholarship

  • Recipient is eligible for up to two years of financial support
  • Charles County residency in McDonough school district required
  • May be enrolled full-time or part-time
  • Minimum 2.00 GPA in prior study and maintain 2.75 GPA required
  • Financial need required (Must have a FAFSA on file for current academic year) 

Neale Chaney Slater Memorial Endowment Fund

  • Preference given to graduating/graduate from Leonard Hall Junior Naval Academy
  • Preference given to fire department or rescue squad volunteers
  • Majors: Preference given to Fire Science Technology or Criminal Justice degree programs
  • Financial need required (Must have a FAFSA on file for current academic year) 

NRL Federal Credit Union Scholarship

  • Must be a NRL Credit Union Member (joint owners that are not members in their own right do not qualify as members)
  • Must have completed at least 12 course credits at CSM
  • Provide an essay of no more than 750 words. The essay will be judged on content, grammar, spelling and originality

NRL Federal Credit Union- Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Strikeout Scholarship

  • Must be an NRL Federal Credit Union Member (joint owners that are not members in their own right do not qualify as members)
  • Must be a resident of Calvert, Charles, or St. Mary's counties
  • Must possess and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA
  • Provide 500-word essay on a topic provided by NRL Federal Credit Union. The essay will be judged on content, grammar, spelling and originality

Nyce Annual Scholarship

  • Tri-county residency required
  • Must be at least 25 years of age
  • Must possess a high school diploma
  • Must be a part-time or full-time student
  • Must possess and maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year)
  • Essay: 200-word essay on their academic goals and how they overcame a challenge

Patty Schwier and Norma LeFleur Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled full-time
  • Must be a parent with at least one dependent child
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA is required for current CSM students 

Russell Gordon Croft Scholarship Endowment

  • Recipient is eligible for up to two years of financial support
  • Southern Charles County residency required
  • Must be a freshman and enrolled full-time
  • Must have a minimum 2.0 GPA in prior study and maintain a minimum  2.3 GPA
  • Financial need required (Must have a FAFSA on file for current academic year) 

Saint Mary's County Government Endowment Fund

  • St. Mary's county residency required
  • Must be enrolled at least half time
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA from a high school or transfer college OR 2 letters of recommendation from professional sources if minimum GPA was not attained with in the 10 year period proceeding date of application 
  • Financial need required (Must have a FAFSA on file for current academic year)

Shani-Jinaki Whipple Scholarship

  • For a student with physical disabilities as per the Americans with Disabilities Act.  Disability must be documented and on file with CSM's ADA Coordinator.
  • Must have minimum 3.0 GPA in prior academic study
  • Must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in order to receive this scholarship for the following semester
  • Must demonstrate commitment toward community service
  • Financial need required (Must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year) 

Sidney John Francis Waugh, Sr. Memorial Scholarship

  • Must reside in Bel Alton/Newburg areas of Charles County
  • Financial need required (must have a FAFSA on file for current academic year) 

Southern Maryland Women's League Annual Scholarship

  • May also cover tuition at CLC for recipient's child
  • Tri-County Residency required
  • Must be enrolled with a minimum of 9 credits per semester
  • Must reside in a single-parent home in Southern Maryland
  • Must explain personal hardship and challenges through an essay of at least 100 words
  • Financial need required (Must have a FAFSA on file for current academic year

Tau Lambda Lambda Chapter Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Scholarship

  • Must be a resident of Southern Maryland (Calvert, Charles or St. Mary's counties)
  • Must be enrolled full-time
  • Must demonstrate community or extracurricular involvement
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Must provide two letters of recommendation from a current instructor or leader in the community
  • Must demonstrate financial need (financial need is determined by the student's FAFSA results for the current academic year)

Tri-County Maryland Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Scholarship

  • Must be a resident of Southern Maryland
  • Must be enrolled full time
  • Must demonstrate community or extra curricular involvement
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Must provide 2 letters of recommendation from a current instructor or leader in community 
  • Required essay: Provide a 1 page typed essay explaining your community or public service involvement.
  • Financial need required (Must have a FAFSA on file for current academic year)

WFA Cancer Survivors and Friends Cancer Scholarship Fund

  • Must be a resident of Southern Maryland (Calvert, Charles or St. Mary's counties)
  • Must be a first, second or third semester student
  • Must submit documentation that you are a cancer survivor or that you have lost a parent due to cancer within three years of enrolling at, or while attending, the College of Southern Maryland
  • Must possess and maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point average
  • Must demonstrate financial need

Zonta RAVE Walk Scholarship in Memory of Gayle A. Cooke

  • Must be a resident of Southern Maryland
  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Must possess a 2.0 cumulative grade point average
  • Be a survivor of domestic abuse or sexual assault 
  • Required essay: Describe the history of their abuse along with their goals to re-enter the job market and how their desired education/training will provide for career adcancement.
  • Applicants can be referred by and/or verified by an outside organization such as CAP (Center for Abused Persons) and Angel's Watch Regional Women's Shelter. 

 

Hospitality

Country Inn & Suites Hospitality Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in the Hospitality Management program
  • Must be a resident of Tri-County area 
  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Must provide an essay of no more than 250 words explaining the importance of customer service in the hospitality industry.

Mathematics

Ed Mathews Jr. Scholarship

  • Charles county residency required
  • May be part time or full time
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in prior study and 3.0 to maintain
  • Student must have been placed in Math 1000T

Renee Munday Math Scholarship Endowment

  • Charles County residency required
  • Preference given to non-traditional aged student
  • Must be enrolled at least part time
  • Award pays for tuition, fees, and books for MTH 1080 (Intermediate Algebra and Trigonometry)

Returning Adults

Anna Mae Ziencik Hess Memorial Scholarship

  • Southern Maryland residency required
  • Must be at least 25 years of age
  • Must have completed at least 12 credit hours
  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need required (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year) 

Charles County Woman's Club Scholarship

CSM Foundation Scholarship for Returning Adults

  • Southern Maryland residency required
  • Must be at least 25 years of age
  • Must have completed at least 12 credit hours

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent

  • Must be a St. Mary's County resident for at least 5 years

Science/Technology/Engineering 

Chaney Scholarship for Sustainable Land Use Endowed Scholarship

  • Major: Credit students pursuing degrees in the following programs: environmental, construction, agriculture, engineering, transportation, forestry and/or farming related studies
  • Preference given to full-time students
  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident
  • Must be a resident of the state of Maryland  
  • Must possess and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.75 GPA
  • Must demonstrate financial need (Financial need is determined by the student's FAFSA results for the current academic year)

Chiramonte Hope Scholarship Fund

  • Major: Preference given to students majoring in health care or STEM related fields
  • Student and/or parent (if parent is claiming student as a dependent) has lost employment due to the current economy
  • Must explain hardships/challenges through an essay of 100 words or less
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year)  

Cove Point Natural Heritage Trust Ruth Mathes Scholarship

  • Major: Biological or Physical Sciences
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year) 
  • Essay: Minimum of one-page, single spaced essay explain your reasons for applying, your educational goals, your professional/future employment ambitions, and your past/present involvement in volunteer community nonprofit organizations and activities.

GRPA Scholarship

  • Major: Science, technology or health care
  • Be a resident of Southern Maryland 
  • Must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and in good academic standing
  • Preference given to Lackey High School graduates 
  • Essay: 100 words minimum explaining their academic pursuits and how CSM will assist them in achieving their goals. 

International Systems Safety Society,Washington, DC Chapter (ISSSWDC)
  • Major: Engineering program with the intent of transferring to a bachelor's of science degree program, preferably with a focus on systems engineering
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required

Joseph W. Patak Memorial Annual Scholarship

  • Scholarship supports non-traditional aged returning adult student
  • Be a resident of Southern Maryland 
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA in prior academic study
  • Posses a high school diploma or its equivalent 
  • Must be studying in the fields of Math or Science

Kavetsky Family Foundation Endowment Fund

  • Major: Engineering or Nursing
  • Must be resident of Southern Maryland
  • May be part-time or full-time
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year) 

Oreta Stinson Memorial Engineering Scholarship

  • Major: Science, Technology, Engineering or Math. Preference given to Electrical Engineering Majors
  • Must be a Tri-county resident
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must demonstrate community or extracurricular involvement 
  • Essay: One page essay, explain your community and/or public service involvement

Our Earth Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Biological /Environmental science courses (Preference will be given to students enrolled in ENV1300 or ENV1300L)
  • Must be a Tri-county resident
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year)  
  • Essay: 200-word essay explaining your community and/or public service
Wigberto "Willie" Martinez, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

  • Major: Science, Technology or Engineering
  • Must be enrolled in a science,technology or engineering credit course at CSM
  • Must reside in Southern Maryland
  • Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need (must have a current FAFSA on file for current academic year)

William D. Bauer Memorial Pre-Engineering Scholarship

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must be a resident of Calvert, Charles, or St. Mary's County
  • Major: Engineering with an emphasis on joining the Patuxent Partnership Co-Op Program
  • Must be enrolled full time
  • Must possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Must be eligible for MTH-1200 or higher; ENG-1010 or higher; and place out of Developmental Reading
  • Preference given to minority students and those who demonstrate financial need

 

Social Sciences

Calvert County 350th Anniversary Celebration Scholarship Endowment Fund

  • Major: Social Sciences with an emphasis in History or Anthropology
  • Calvert County residency required
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA required OR 2 letters of recommendation from professional sources in the absence of a recent GPA (within last 10 years) 

Southern Maryland Municipal Association Scholarship Fund

  • Major: Political Science
  • Must be a resident of Southern Maryland
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need (must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year)

Spanish

Bill Wood Memorial Scholarship

  • Must be a resident of Southern Maryland
  • Only covers cost of tuition, fees and books for Spanish classes offered at CSM (up to a maximum of 12 credit hours) 
  • Current CSM student must have earned at least three credits of Spanish or six credits of other subjects and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Current students must also submit a letter of recommendation from their CSM advisor or CSM Spanish professor
  • Graduating high school seniors must have completed a minimum of two years of high school Spanish.
  • Graduating high school seniors must also submit a letter of recommendation from their Spanish instructor and an official transcript

Teacher Education

Nu Zeta Omega Scholarship

  • Major: Teacher Education degree program
  • Tri-county residency required
  • Must be enrolled full-time
  • Financial need required (Must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year

Professor Debra L. Wyvill Teacher Education Endowed Scholarship Fund

  • Major:Teacher Education degree program
  • Calvert County residency required
  • May be enrolled full-time or part-time
  • Minimum cumulative 2.75 GPA
  • Must demonstrate commitment toward community service (in 500 words)

Rebekah Boone and Vivian Edelen Scholarship

  • Major: Must complete at least 30 credits of teacher Education program
  • Must be enrolled full time
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required

Thomas J. Murray Memorial Scholarship

  • St. Mary's County residency required
  • Must be a graduate of Great Mills High School or attended Great Mills High School for a minimum of three years and possess a high school diploma or it's equivalent
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA required
  • Must be enrolled in a Teacher Education program

Veterans

Jaye S. Ives Freedom Scholarship

  • Must be a veteran or the spouse or child of an active duty or retired military service member.
  • Must be a resident of St. Mary's County
  • Must possess and maintain a minimum of 3.0 GPA

Veterans Educational Scholarship Endowment

  • Major: Criminal Justice degree program
  • Must be a veteran as defined by the Higher Education Act of 1965
