Students tour one of the world's great destinations, Istanbul, Turkey as they learn basics of international travel. Founded as Byzantium by the ancient Greeks and renamed Constantinople by the Romans, the city has been a center of world history and culture since antiquity. Included in the adventure are visits to the great Roman walls of Theodosius, remains of the Byzantine Hippodrome, Cathedral of Hagia Sophia, the Mosaic Museum, the famous Blue Mosque, Fortress of Europe, the Ottoman Topkapi Palace, Genoese Galata Tower and a cruise of the Bosporus.
Shopping the Grand Bazaar, a visit to Asia and optional day trip to ancient Troy are also offered. Students experience the great city while developing skills and confidence for travelling abroad. A valid passport and pre-registration are required.
The cost to each student is $1,600.** Students will need an additional estimated $350 to cover in-country travel expenses. All students must obtain a valid U.S. passport prior to departure (estimated time to obtain a passport is 8 weeks). The trip is limited to 14 students, accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign up early to reserve your place! **This cost may increase or decrease pending the costs of airfare and room & board. Payments to vendors, airlines, travel agents, hotels, etc. may be non-refundable.

The CSM Travel Studies Scholarship Application is now available. This scholarship will allow students to be awarded $475 toward their travel costs and will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please apply early!
Applicant must be registered for at least 9 credits during the semester or immediately preceding the travel studies course for which the award is intended. Applicant must demonstrate financial need, as determined by the CSM Financial Assistance Department. Applicant must possess a 3.0 cumulative grade point average at the time of application.
Should you be awarded this scholarship, you are required to provide a follow up essay and / or video report based on your experiences in the travel studies program.
In order to register for travel study courses, students must complete the following application. Once applications are received, students will be contacted with more details and will be placed in the program on a first-come, first-serve bases until all spaces are filled. Payments will be placed on students CSM accounts, allowing many payment options to be utilized. Once the fee is placed on the account, it is non-refundable. Students will then be given further instructions on how to register for their course(s).
