CompTIA Network+ certification is an internationally accepted industry certification for accessing the networking knowledge of professionals. It is designed to validate the candidate's skills in troubleshooting, configuring and different networking hardware and software components.

The exam was developed with the inputs of leading IT organizations and some of the biggest employers of networking services and professionals including Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Cisco, IBM and the US Navy. This certification can be used to satisfy the requirements of an elective in Microsoft MCSE or MCSA certification.

In addition, Network+ certification meets the requirements of the DoD 8570.01-M directive.

The timeline is the approximate amount of time that a student will require to complete the training series.

Network+ Exam

Number of Questions: 85

Question Format: Conventional, situational and identification multiple choice

Minimum passing score: 554 from a range of 100-900

Time: 90 minutes

Exam Fee: $244

Retake Policy: CompTIA does not require a waiting period for second attempts. However, for the third and subsequent attempts the candidate has to wait 30 days after the last attempt before retaking the exam.

The exam comprises 4 domain areas, as listed below in order of exam importance:

• Media and Topologies 20%
• Protocols and Standards 20%
• Network Implementation 25%
• Network Support 35%

Test at CSM

The CSM Testing Center offers the Network+ exams.

The Testing Center at the CSM La Plata Campus is the only Pearson VUE authorized test center in Southern Maryland.
