La Plata Campus Library Services
Circulation and Course Reserves
Circulation: Students and employees of CSM as well as residents of Charles, St. Mary's, or Calvert counties may borrow materials from the library. Students and employees
must use their College ID cards to check out materials and residents must have a valid local public library card.
Circulating materials may be borrowed for 2 weeks. They may usually be renewed, either over the phone or in person.
Periodicals, audiovisual materials, and all materials from the Southern Maryland Studies Center are to be used in the library only.
Course Reserves: Faculty may place materials related to their courses in a special reserve collection for restricted borrowing.
Library or personally
owned materials may be placed on reserve. Reserve items circulate for differing amounts of time--ranging from "library use only" up to 1 week. Fines for overdue reserve materials are $1 per day. Telecourse
materials are also shelved in the reserve section.
Reference
Reference librarians are available for help during peak usage hours. You may come in to use the library and its resources or call for information and
assistance.
Interlibrary Loan
Through interlibrary loan (ILL), we can order almost any book, periodical article, or ERIC document that you need.
Most periodical articles can be obtained within 1 week. Please allow 2-3 weeks for a book request. Allow up to 3 weeks for delivery of an ERIC
document. Most interlibrary loans are free of charge.
ID Cards
Student ID cards are distributed at the Circulation Desk. New ID cards are issued at the beginning of the fall semester for all students enrolled at CSM. In the
spring and summer semesters new ID cards are issued only for new students. Returning students need to come to the library to have their cards updated. If you lose your ID card, you may order
a replacement. It may take up to one week to get a replacement card.
Copier
The library maintains one public service copier. It is located in the microfilm room.
