Dr. Bradley Gottfried is the fourth president of the College
of Southern Maryland, appointed in July, 2006. Associated
with community colleges for more than 30 years, Dr.
Gottfried has extensive experience in strategic planning,
enrollment management, fiscal and facilities management, and
cultivating community and legislative relations, as well as
developing successful initiatives in curriculum, technology,
faculty, transfer programs and business development. |

Students shared class time
with College of Southern Maryland President Bradley

During his first two weeks at the College of Southern
Maryland, President Bradley Gottfried introduced himself to
college employees during staff and faculty information
forums held at each of the campuses. “Even though I’m the
newest employee, I’m committed to building on our legacy and
working with you and the community to make us even better,”
Dr. Gottfried told those attending the seven sessions.

A five-time author of Civil War history books as well as a
writer of numerous articles and presentations, CSM’s
President Bradley Gottfried, Ph.D., has written about
Gettysburg, the New Jersey brigade and the Philadelphia
brigade. Information on his books is on display in the College of Southern
Maryland’s libraries.
