Bolton & Associates Establishes CSM Endowment For Working Adults Pursuing Degree
Bolton & Associates of La Plata is providing encouragement for working adults who want to pursue higher education. The firm has pledged a $150,000 endowment at the College of Southern Maryland to support working adults who are pursing degrees in civil engineering, land planning, land surveying or related fields. Bolton & Associates CEO and President Gore Bolton and wife Michelle, director of engineering for the firm, recognize the challenges for working adults who are attending college, and particularly those challenges for parents who work full time and balance family with college. Michelle recalls her father’s graduation from Johns Hopkins University in 1980. “I was in third or fourth grade when he received his engineering degree, and I still remember it,” said Michelle. The Boltons established the William D. Bauer Memorial Scholarship Fund at CSM in honor of Michelle’s father, adding that they told him about the endowment prior to his death last year. Gore Bolton, who attended CSM during his senior year at Lackey High School, said, “I finished four classes at CSM as a senior in high school and that summer took my first engineering class at the University of Maryland, so basically I had finished my first year of college by that fall. This scholarship is named in honor of Michelle’s father who also arranged for my first job in Baltimore. We’re really excited to be able to honor his memory through this scholarship as it will go a long way in helping others achieve their dreams as well.” Headquartered in La Plata and with offices in Michigan, Bolton & Associates, LLC has a mission to serve its clients and add value throughout the design and construction process by providing creative and technical solutions.
