Student Services

Most students require some type of financial assistance to pay for their college expenses. Let our team of experts help you understand the different types of aid available and your eligibility.

What is financial assistance? Financial assistance funding is intended to help students pay for educational expenses: tuition, fees, books, supplies, and living expenses.

Who is eligible for financial assistance? Financial assistance is available to everyone, however, eligibility varies with each funding source.

Grants are based on financial need and generally do not have to be repaid. To apply for these, you must have been admitted to CSM and must have a processed FASFA file.

Student Employment
Work on campus (Federal Work Study or CSM Student Assistant Programs) to subidize your tution and fees. All hiring for student work programs is conducted through the Career Services Job Connection online database.

Veterans' Educational Benefits
CSM is approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Maryland Higher Education Commission so that eligible veterans, service person, and certain dependents of veterans can receive VA educational benefits.


The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an important first step for many financial assistance considerations and is required for students to receive any federal financial assistance. The FAFSA is used to determine a family's eligibility for financial assistance.

Application forms for the upcoming fall semester usually become available in January. Students should submit the FAFSA between January 1 and Marh 1 to meet the priority deadline of March 1. This allows time for the CSM Financial Assistance Department to process the FAFSA and determine your eligibility for financial assistance. Students submitting the FAFSA after March 1 are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

FACTS is not a loan program, there is no debt, no credit search, and no interest or finance charges assessed on the unpaid balance. There is a $50 per semester non-refundable enrollment fee*. The cost to budget with FACTS is so affordable because payments are made using automatic transactions from your financial institution or credit card. You save the time and expense of writing and mailing checks. The automatic payment helps you budget tuition conveniently while ensuring the college receives dependable and consistent tuition payments.

FACTS - CSM Tuition Payment Plan: To be eligible, you must enroll in at least six (6) credit hours.
