Every Other Weekend College

Finish your degree by taking class every other weekend.
Overview
Every Other Weekend College, or Weekend College for short, is a new program that allows students to complete an Associate of Arts degree by taking a series of courses held every other weekend between September and May for six semesters. All classes are held on alternating weekends, Friday evening from 6-9pm and Saturdays from 9am-3:30pm.
Weekend College is designed for adults with busy schedules at work and with family who have difficulty scheduling traditional classes. This program is part of CSM's committment to offer a wide variety of learning options to the community we serve.
All classes are held at the La Plata Campus. Courses are taught by CSM's outstanding faculty of both full-time and adjunct instructors.
Earning a college degree is a step toward new job opportunities, higher earnings, a bachelor’s degree, or just greater personal satisfaction.
How it Works
Once you are admitted to CSM, you must complete a Placement Test to show you are prepared for college-level course requirements in order to be accepted into the Weekend College program. If needed, you can take CSM's college preparation courses in reading, writing, and/or math prior to beginning Weekend College.
Weekend College courses are taken in clusters of three to four classes each semester. The clusters of courses are taken in chronological order to ensure that all prerequisites are taken as needed.
To allow for class meetings every other weekend, courses are part in-classroom and part online, or Web-hybrid courses.
Students take the classes in cohorts, or groups. Cohorts begin every September. By taking classes in cohorts, you also get to know your classmates, and develop better learning relationships with them. They often provide peer support and encouragement.
If you leave the program at any time, all earned credits will remain on your transcript so that you can continue to take classes at a later date, or transfer them to another institution.
Upon completion of the program, you can participate in CSM's Commencment ceremoies, and will earn an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies. This degree is easily transferrable to four-year schools, or you may choose to take one of CSM's special articulation programs and finish a Bachelor's degree by taking classes at CSM. Talk with an advisor for more information.
