Cooperative Education

A course that teaches through REAL experiences.
How to Choose a Project
After your record has been checked to ensure you meet all of the prerequisites, you must choose a work project.
It is the student's responsibility to identify a project.
The work project can be anything that supports your program of study. Check the sample projects list and CSM's Job Connection Web site for ideas and available co-op employers. You can also take a short skills quiz to find out what types of work you might be good at doing.
You will be required to complete your project in one semester and must spend a total of 225 hours working on the project. You will submit periodic assignments to the instructor throughout the semester via WebCT. WebCT is CSM's online classroom. (Get more information about WebCT.) Also, your employer will be asked to evaluate your work.
All projects must be approved by the instructor prior to receiving approval to register for the course.
To receive approval, take the following steps:
- Submit a proposal to the instructor.
- If needed, the instructor will return the proposal for more information or clarification.
- Once the instructor has approved the proposal, contact the co-op advisor to receive permission to register for the class.
