Description of Course

Cooperative education allows students to combine academic study with on-the-job experience by working on paid training assignments coordinated by department faculty. The major objective of cooperative education is the application of classroom theory in a work environment. This course is intended for students who are pursuing a degree in a technical studies discipline.

Objectives

Students will blend academic study with on-the-job experience. In particular, students are provided the opportunity:

Attendance

You will be responsible for completing the proposed project independently. You will also be required to submit a final electronic document, the requirements of which are listed below.

Grading

Your final grade will be Pass (70 points and above) or Fail.

Grade determined by the following:

Project/Showing the Work 25 points
Student Disk 20 points
Employer Evaluation 20 points
Time Log 15 points
Project Progress Assignments (4 @ 5 pts. each) 20 points

A grade of “FX “ be given at midterm and at the end of the semester if a student fail to attend or cease to attend class at or before the midpoint of the course.  In the case of students in web courses, an “FX” grade may be awarded to students who have never participated or ceased to participate in the course.  This grade would equate to an F.

Academic Honesty

Each student is expected to perform his own academic work. Plagiarism and other forms of academic dishonesty are considered an extremely serious offense. The student is personally responsible for understanding the various forms of academic dishonesty as they are explained in the "Student Code of Conduct" in the Student Handbook. Ignorance of any requirement for academic honesty will not constitute an excuse from disciplinary proceedings. Any form of cheating will be considered grounds for failure of the course.

Audit Policy

This course cannot be audited.

Withdrawal Date

The last day to withdraw from the class without a grade may be found on the college’s web page or in the schedule of classes. Keep this date in mind. Incompletes will only be given if all assignments are completed and a student has a personal problem that cannot be avoided. If this occurs before last day to withdraw, you must withdraw from the course rather than receive an incomplete.
