EMT Special Considerations I

Description:

This course addresses the care of emergency medical and trauma conditions suffered by patients of differing age groups--from birth to old age, as well as the principles of assessment- based management of common patient complaints. Students learn to integrate the pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a treatment plan for selected medical and trauma conditions of neonatal, pediatric, and geriatric patients. To successfully complete this course, students must meet the American Academy of Pediatrics standards for Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) Advanced Life Support (ALS).
