Description:
This course is intended for non-native speakers who can understand, speak, read, and write English, but who wish to refine their skills and develop communication skills adequate for success in academic and professional life. Throughout the course, students will practice listening to lectures and discussions and speaking on topics appropriate to academic and professional situations. Students will read and discuss excerpts from college-level texts and other material appropriate to academic or professional settings. Students will write various papers appropriate to academic or professional situations, focusing on increasing their command of syntax and writing conventions. Must have basic understanding of the English language. Textbook required.
