Description:
Participants are taught how to assist the dentist with procedures and provide patient care. Preparing the patient for treatment and providing patient education are described. Occupational safety considerations, standard precautions, infection control, and sterilization and disinfection are taught and demonstrated. Fourteen hours of clinical observation in participating dental offices will be arranged and must be completed outside of regularly scheduled classroom sessions. Prior to entering clinical, students are required to submit a form signed by a physician or nurse documenting freedom from tuberculosis. Textbook required.
