Teaching Children with Attention Deficit Disorder

Course: TED-5110
Continuing Education Units: 1.50

Description:

Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) is one of the most common mental disorders in children and adolescents. Prevalence data suggest 3-7% of school-age children suffer from ADD. Teachers will learn more about this disorder to enhance classroom teaching through activities designed to gain a greater awareness of the disorder's etiologies and co-occurring disabilities, treatment options, and best practice methodologies for classroom instruction, including the development of behavior intervention plans. Identify when and how to enter the IEP Process versus a 504 Plan, as well as how to effectively communicate with parents and administrators regarding ADD-related concerns.
