Description:

The Geographic Information Systems Technology certificate program prepares students for entry level positions as GIS Technician Trainees.Students will develop basic skills in creating and manipulating geospatial databases, preparing thematic maps, and analyzing map content. The program is open to students with no previous experience in mapping or geographic information systems.

Potential employers for graduates include federal, state, and local government agencies that use and analyze geographic information.The private sector provides employment opportunities in the areas of planning, marketing, development, and environmental assessment.

The maximum number of credits accepted in transfer from other institutions to this program is 16.
