Description:

This course sequence prepares students to enter the medical transcription field. Students gain a working knowledge of the content and formats of medical documents and reports typically dictated in physicians' offices, hospital clinics, and hospital ancillary and support facilities.Students develop proficiency with medical termininology and gain technical competencies required to operate transcription equipment including the transcriber and microcomputer The maximum number of credits accepted in transfer from other institutions to this program is 8.

Required courses:

Take HTH-1100 , OFT-1015 (or pass 35wpm keyboarding test), OFT-1704 , OFT-1706 , OFT-1305 and OFT-1405
