College of Southern Maryland

Admissions

Active Duty Military Personnel Students

Active duty military personnel should follow the admission procedures for full-time, part-time, or transfer students, as appropriate.

CSM will grant credit for courses taken from service schools and other agencies recommended in the American Council on Education's National Guides to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services, current editions. Credits are limited to those courses which the college determines to be applicable to its degree and certificate programs. Credits will not be granted for courses not recommended or not found in these publications. Before any evaluation can be made, records for each school or agency attended must be submitted to the Admissions Office.

The College of Southern Maryland is a member of SOC (Service members Opportunity Colleges). SOC is a worldwide consortium of colleges and universities which assists military personnel in completing degree programs by reducing residency requirements, sharing course information and increasing opportunities for transfer of credits between member institutions. Students should meet with the SOC advisor at their primary institution to complete a degree contract to ensure maximum transferability of credits. Additional information about SOCNAV and SOCAD can be obtained from an academic advisor.
