Coach Blandford graduated from the College of Southern Maryland, where he played baseball and earned All Maryland JUCO 1^st Team honors both years.  In the winter of 1972 he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.

 From 1982 to 1986 he was the assistant baseball coach at CSM and returned in 1999 to that same position. In 2000, Joe was named head coach and his goal has been  to actively recruit players from the Charles, St. Mary’s and Calvert schools to build a solid baseball program at CSM. 

Coach Blandford has a B.A. in Business Administration.  A long time resident of Charles County, Joe has three children: Joseph Jr., who is married and lives in Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Lindsey, an Alexandria resident who is married and teaches first grade in Charles County; and Ashley, a recent graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College who resides in La Plata.
