HAWKS vs. BLUE CRABS
May 4, 2009 -
The CSM baseball team played the Southern
Maryland Blue Crabs, in an exhibition game April 21 at Regency Furniture
Stadium.
The Blue Crabs won the game (17-0), but there were several highlights for
the Hawks, as they tested themselves against the professional players.
Michael August, Joe Saverino, Nick Sydnor, and Dennis Morgan all had hits
off the Blue Crab pitchers. CSM pitcher Ryan Neeley pitched a perfect
5th inning, retiring all three batters he faced, and striking out two Blue
Crabs (both swinging).
The Hawks had their best chance to score in the top of the first, as CSM had
runners on the corners with two outs. The Hawks had two singles and a
runner reached base on a Blue Crabs error, but former major league
pitcher John Halama picked off a CSM base runner who otherwise might have
scored.
