Hi my name’s Gene
Bowles. I graduated from Great Mills High School in 2004. I play for
the College of Southern Maryland baseball team. I am an infielder and
in the bullpen occasionally. During this 2006 season I will be your guide
with the Hawks baseball team. I will give you the inside scope on
what’s going on in the world of “Hawks Baseball”. |
March 9, 2006
After another losing effort, we
as a whole are left in the dust to look at the empty fields of the Delaware
scenery on our way back to the La Plata campus. We were all pumped up in the
way we got there to the Georgetown campus of Delaware Tech campus and felt great
after the good practice we had the day before. The first couple of innings went
well and we jumped out on top 1-0. After that we lost focus and the Roadrunners
took advantage of every opportunity that was given to them.
In my eyes I believe we have the
talent to get it done on the field but, we just need to start capitalizing on
every situation that is in front of us. We had good spots in the dimness of the
game though. Some good spots were that our coaching staff found out that we
have pitchers that are willing to go out there on the mound and throw more than
4 innings in a 9 inning game.
Our team needs to look and see
how other teams play together in the way they hit together and once they start
they don’t let up. My opinion is that we are not playing to our full potential
as we all did in our high school play. This even goes for myself because I’m
not playing to the potential I believe I should be at in this point in the
season.
We have the talent to win, we
just have to take that idea and go with it. Our coaches have been trying their
hardest to get it out of us but, we just haven’t been performing on the field as
we should. We need to start to just play ball as we did when we were kids in
Little League and in high school because this game is fun and it needs to be
played with the carefree attitude as we used to have.
