UNDEFEATED SEASON FOR CSM GOLFERS
May 4, 2006 -
The CSM Golfers traveled to Maple Run Golf
Club to finish the regular season against Frederick Community College.
CSM's Captain Matt Wagner was the Medalist with a 75, as Alan Mattingly
(79), Brian Beavan (83), and R.J. Persetic (86) secured the final victory.
CSM had five players that started and finished all of the home/away matches
during the 2006 spring golf season: Alan Mattingly (#2), Brian Beavan (#3),
R.J. Persetic (#4), Josh Humphrey (#5), and Greg Peterson (#6).
Head Coach Danny Williams stated:
"This is the first time in my 18 years as the CSM Golf Coach that I can
remember always having six players at every match."
Captain Matt Wagner had to withdraw during two matches because of his back,
but his teammates sealed the victories with their play.
Coaches Danny Williams and Ned Spearbeck told the golfers at the start of
the season:
"We have three goals: be undefeated, win the Maryland JUCO Championship
(which the team has accomplished), but the most important is to win the
Regional Championship."
The Regional Championship will take place next week at Beaver Creek Country
Club next week and the winning team will compete in the National
Championships in Goose Pond, Alabama at the end of May.
