ROCKVILLE HANDS HAWKS GOLF TEAM FIRST LOSS
April 9, 2007 -
Montgomery College-Rockville avenged last
year's loss to CSM with a 7 stroke victory (330 - 323) at Redgate Golf
Course. After 80 degree weather on Tuesday, the ten players from the two
teams had to face 40 degree temperatures with 20-30 m.p.h. winds and gusts
even higher on Thursday. The Redgate greens had just been aerated which
added to the difficulty of the rounds because of the putts bouncing.
Rockville's Nick Scrievens was the medalist with a score of 78; teammate
Joey Shapiro and CSM's Matt Wagner both had 79.
R.J. Persetic (81), Pat Hibben (83), and Vinnie Hancock (87) rounded out the
Hawk scoring. After the front nine, both teams were even but the Hawks lost
their chance to win on the tough last three holes with only 3 pars among our
five players.
