women's basketball season.

CSM TO HOST 3 on 3 TOURNAMENT
February 29, 2008 -
The CSM men's basketball team will be hosting two 3 on 3 basketball tournaments
this spring. There will be a boys tournament April 19 and 20, and a girls
tournament April 26-27. There will be two divisions for each tournament:
grades 6-8 and 9-12. There will also be 3-point and slam dunk contests.

MEN AND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL BOTH PLAY FIRST
ROUND MDJUCO GAMES AT CHESAPEAKE
February 18, 2008 -
The first round pairings are out for the men and women's MDJUCO
Tournament, and as luck will have it, both teams are headed to Chesapeake for
first round games on Tuesday, Feb. 19. The women's basketball team is
seeded # 10, and will play # 7 Chesapeake at 5:00 PM. The men are seeded #
15, and will play # 2 Chesapeake at 7:00 PM.

CECIL OVERPOWERS HAWKS
February 15, 2008 -
Cecil, the number one team in the country, proved to be too much
for CSM, as the men's basketball team fell 122-79 in the final home game of the
season. Laron Mann had one of his finest games of the season, as he scored
30 points for the Hawks.

CSM RALLY FALLS SHORT AS HAWKS FALL TO ANNE ARUNDEL
February 13, 2008 -
After trailing by nine points, 51-42, with 9:00 left in the second half, the
Hawks rallied to take the lead late in the game, but the comeback effort fell
just short as Anne Arundel escaped with a 66-64 win. With the win, Anne
Arundel (4-19, 3-13) secures the final spot in the MDJUCO Tournament next week.

NOVA DEFEATS HAWKS 80-62
February 5, 2008 -
Cold shooting plagued the Hawks all evening, as the CSM men's basketball team
fell to Northern Virginia Community College 80-62.

HAWKS LOSE LEAD - FALL TO CATONSVILLE
January 30, 2008 -
After leading for most of the second half, the Hawks shooting went cold down the
stretch, and the CSM men's basketball team lost to Catonsville 65-57.

HAWKS STUN PRINCE GEORGE'S
January 11, 2007 -
Vincent Owens scored the winning basket with just 12.5 seconds on
the clock, as CSM pulled the upset, defeating Prince George's 77-75.

MEN AND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALL IN
DOUBLEHEADER
January 9, 2008 -
The CSM women's basketball team fell to Garrett 73-46, and the men's basketball
team lost to Rockville 72-62 in a basketball doubleheader played at the College
of Southern Maryland.

BRUNSWICK PULLS AWAY IN 2ND HALF TO DEFEAT
HAWKS
November 30, 2007 -
The CSM men's basketball team played a strong first half against
Brunswick (NC), but wore down in the 2nd half and fell to the Dolphins 102-85.

HAWKS WIN HOME OPENER
November 26, 2007 -
The CSM men's basketball team won their home opener, defeating
the Washington College JV 79-44. Byron Morgan led all scorers with 17
points, Brandon Dukes had 16 pts., Laron Mann 11 pts. and Mike Dickerson came
off the bench to add 10 pts. for CSM.

CSM ANNOUNCES 2007-08 MEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE
July 20, 2007 -
The CSM men's basketball team will tip-off the
season in the Hall of Fame Tournament on November 3rd and 4th. The
Tournament will be played in Hagerstown, Md. The Hawks will participate in
two other tournaments, traveling to Keyser, WV for the Potomac State Tournament
on Nov. 10 and 11, and playing in the Prince George's Tournament Dec. 21 and 22.
CSM
will host Cecil, who finished last season ranked #1 in the country (Division
II), in the final home game on Feb. 15. Rockville, which participated in
the Division III National Tournament visit's the Hawk's Nest on Jan. 9.
Homecoming is Feb. 1, when the Hawks take on Takoma Park at 7:00 PM. The
women play Anne Arundel at 5:00 PM.

ALAN HOYT TAKES REIGNS OF MEN'S BASKETBALL
TEAM
June 1, 2007 -
New College of Southern Maryland men's basketball
coach Alan Hoyt comes with Southern Maryland ties, having played high school
basketball at Great Mills, and served as Assistant Basketball Coach at St.
Mary's College of Maryland.
St.
Mary's Head Coach Chris Harney had strong praise for his former assistant:
"The College of Southern Maryland is getting one of the best young coaches in
the state! He did a fantastic job here at St. Mary's. He knows how
to teach strong fundamentals, and has excellent patience in handling situations.
CSM will look back at hiring Coach Hoyt as one of the smartest things they've
