MEN'S BASKETBALL WINS OPENER
Wednesday,
November 7 - The men's basketball team won their opening game, 105-81 over
Northern Virginia Community College. The Raiders jumped out to an early
lead and were able to hang on to it for the first 10 minutes of the game.
The Hawks relentless pressure begin to wear NOVA down, and CSM was able to gain
a 47-36 halftime lead.
CSM's full court pressure continued to bother the Raiders in
the second half, and the Hawks increased their lead to 20 points, which they
held for most of the second half. Wayne Gibson led CSM with 20 points,
Chris Rhone had 18, and James Sheppard added 13, including three 3 pointers.
Phillip Waife had 20 for the Raiders and Ron Turner added 18.
"It was great to win the opener" commented Hawks
Head Coach Todd Fong.
"This will give us something to build on. We had a
great crowd, and the kids played hard."
The Hawks will play at Washington Bible on Saturday, November
10 in the first of three road games. CSM returns to the "Hawks
Nest" on Monday, November 26 for a contest against Delaware Tech.
