BRANDON MARTIN SELECTED AS HAWKS MEN'S BASKETBALL COACH

Thursday, March 18 - Brandon Martin has been named the College of Southern Maryland's head men's basketball coach.  Martin has been an Assistant Coach at the Community College of Allegheny County in Pittsburg, Pa. the past five seasons.  At Allegheny, Martin supervised the weigh training and conditioning program, monitored the academic progress of players, assisted with recruiting, and scouted opponents.

"I am very pleased to announce Brandon Martin as the head men's basketball coach" said Michelle Ruble, CSM Athletic Director.

"I have extreme confidence Brandon will do an excellent job at the helm of the men's basketball program."

Martin made the following statement after being chosen as the Hawks men's basketball coach:

"After meeting with members of the CSM family I realized that this is a great opportunity. I come from a program headed by legendary coach, Bill Shay who averaged over 20 wins per season over his 36 year tenure with the Community College of Allegheny County.  We were known for having players that could excel both on the court and in the classroom.  I plan on bringing this philosophy that a student-athlete must excel both on and off the court to CSM.  I look forward to building the type of program that everyone in the community can be proud of."

Martin will meet on Friday and introduce himself to the CSM basketball players.
