COLD SHOOTING HAWKS FALL TO EAGLES 67-59

Monday, January 12 - The men's basketball team's shooting was as cold as the winter weather this past weekend, and CSM (5-9, 2-4) fell to Maryland Bible (6-1) in a non-conference match-up.

The Hawks played poorly in the first half, with numerous turnovers, and poor shooting from the field and free throw line (2-13).  CSM fell behind 9-0, rallied to pull within six at 15-9, and then fell behind again, trailing 35-20 at the half.

CSM looked like a different team in the second half.  The Hawks were energized, and immediately cut into the Eagles lead by using a full court press and half-court trap to force turnovers and create fastbreak opportunities.

The Hawks outscored Maryland Bible 24-10 over the first twelve minutes of the second half,  and cut the Eagles lead to one at 45-44 on Christian Waugh's shot just inside the three point arch with 8:13 left.

However the cold shooting returned, and although they got some good looks at the basket, the Hawks couldn't get any closer as Maryland Bible held on for a 63-57 win.

Jerry Parker led the CSM with 17 points, and Doug Cornwell added 10.  Maryland Bible's Sam Platter led all scorers' with 27.

CSM needs to regroup quickly, as they face the #2 team in the country, Cecil, on Wednesday, at 7:00 PM in the Hawks' Nest.
