PG AND BEAVER WIN THRILLERS IN FINAL DAY OF CSM CLASSIC

November 12, 2005 - Beaver defeated CSM 90-88, and Prince George's came from behind to defeat Mercyhurst Northeast 108-107 in overtime in the final day of the CSM Classic.  Every game in the tournament went down to the wire, as all four games were decided by a total of six points.

In the second game, Beaver's full court pressure gave the Hawks trouble, and the Titans jumped to a 30-16 lead, with 7:32 left in the first half.  The Hawks mounted a comeback, cutting the lead to 38-34 with 4:05 left, but Beaver was able to regain a seven point advantage at halftime, 41-36.

In the second half, the Titans again tried to pull away, as 6-0 run put Beaver ahead 70-59 with 10:53 left in the game.  However CSM battled back once again, and Michael Milstead's free throw cut the Beaver lead to 86-82 with 1:12 left.

The Hawks had one last chance to tie, as Michael Milstead was fouled on a three point attempt with 7.1 seconds left, and the Hawks trailing 90-86.  Milstead hit the first two attempts, missed the third, but the Titans lost control of the ball out of bounds, giving CSM one last chance.  However two desperations shots failed to find net, and the 18th ranked Titans escaped with the 90-88 victory.

Michael Milstead led the Hawks in scoring with 28 pts., and Ricky Marzett added 18.  Theron Colaco had 18 for the Titans, and Eric Ruffin and Donnel Sallis each had 14.

In the first game, 17th ranked Prince George's trailed the entire game, but Kenneth Francis scored from inside to tie the game at 98-98 and force overtime.  Mercyhurst Northeast again took the lead in overtime, but again the Owls rallied.  Trailing 107-106, PG missed a foul shot that would have tied the game, but Orlando Wright grabbed the rebound and scored to put the Owls up 108-107.  Mercyhurst was unable to get off a final shot, and Prince George's had another come from behind victory.

Orlando Wright led PG in scoring with 34 pts., and William Gill added 17.  Julian Pinkston had 29 for the Saints, Mario McGee had 22, and Gerald Warrick added 16.
