HAWKS FALL TO SECOND RANKED CECIL

February 8, 2006 - The CSM men's basketball team fell at home to Cecil, the second ranked team in the country, 102-67.

The Hawks had difficulty containing Cecil's high octane offense, the fourth best in the country, as the Seahawks jumped in front by 22 in the first half, and led 39-17 with 6:46 to play in the first half.  CSM (6-17, 4-10) battled back, outscoring Cecil 15-8 over the next four minutes.  Marko Hamlin's 16 foot jumper cut the Seahawk lead to 47-32 with 2:34 left, before Cecil went on a 6-2 run to close out the half to lead 53-34 at the break.

In the second half, Cecil (21-2, 15-0) slowly increased their lead for the final 102-67 margin.  Edward Miller led the Seahawks with 30 points, and Joel Green had 24 points.

Anthony Stowe led the Hawks with 21 points, Marko Hamlin had 14 pts., and Ricky Marzett scored 13 points.

The Hawks travel to Hagerstown Saturday for an 8:00 PM game, and return to the Hawks Nest next Wednesday, February 15, for their final home game of the season against Rockville.  Tip-off is at 7:00 PM.
