LIGHTS GO OUT WITH HAWKS AND PANTHERS TIED AFTER REGULATION

November 29, 2005 - A power failure on the CSM campus caused the men's basketball game against Baltimore to be suspended, with the score tied at 75-75.  CSM's Anthony Stowe tipped in a missed shot with 1:14 left in the game to tie the score at 75-75, and that proved to be the final basket of the evening.  Both teams missed opportunities to win the game.  Baltimore had two turnovers down the stretch, and the Hawks had two offensive possesions, but were unable to convert.

With the game set to go into overtime, power went out on the CSM campus, and play was suspended.  If the game has a bearing on the MDJUCO Championship, the game will be continued where it was left off, going into overtime tied at 75-75.

The game was close throughout, with neither team able to pull away.  Baltimore (0-4) took an early 9-4 lead before CSM (1-6) came back to take a 43-38 halftime lead.

In the first eight minutes of the second half the Panthers went on a 19-7 run to pull in front 57-50, but the Hawks battled back, and Thomas Whinnett's 3-pointer tied the game at 61-61 with 9:16 left.  The game remained tight the rest of the way, with neither team able to gain more then a three point advantage.

Thomas Whinnett led the Hawks with 22 points (four 3-pointers), and Anthony Stowe added 13.  Paul Frazier was high scorer for the Panthers with 21 points, and John Addison had 15.

The Hawks are in the midst of a three game homestand.  They will host Allegany Saturday at 8:00 PM, and Anne Arundel December 7 at 7:00 PM.
