GERMANTOWN RUNS AWAY FROM HAWKS
November 13, 2006 -
After a close game for the first 25 minutes,
Germantown outscored the Hawks 61-28 over the last 15 minutes to win 116-83.
Darshawn Johnson led all scorers with 27 pts., and Jamarl Glenn added 21 for
the Griffins. Jordan Daisy led the Hawks with 18 points, and Keith
Wagner added 14 to lead CSM.
In the first half each team exchanged leads. Keith Wagner drained a
tray to give the Hawks their biggest lead of the half, 22-16, with 8:56
left. Germantown took a 13 point lead on Rico Seagears three pointer
with 39 seconds left, before Wagner hit another three to cut the Griffins
lead to 45-35 at the half.
CSM (1-1) slowly chipped away at the lead in the second half.
Jordan Daisy hit a three to cut the Germantown lead to 50-47, and Justin
Jackson stole the ball and laid it in to cut the lead to just a point at
53-52. The Hawks finally tied the game at 55-55 on Sean Ussery's three
pointer with 15:04 left in the second half.
The Hawks were still in the game, trailing by only three, 63-60 with 12:27
left, but that was as close as they'd get, as Germantown (1-1) forced
numerous Hawk turnovers and got their fast break going on the way to the
116-83 win.
The Hawks will be back in action on Wednesday, November 15, as they face
Chesapeake and former CSM Head Coach John Mappas in a 7:00 game. The
game is part of a doubleheader, as the CSM women face the Washington College
JV at 5:00 PM.
