CSM Mens Basketball Season Ends

January 5, 2007 - The College of Southern Maryland strives to ensure that our student athletes succeed both in the classroom and on the playing field. By focusing on the student athlete as a "whole person," the athletic program complements and enhances our academic program to help the individuals realize their potential both as students and as athletes.

At the end of the fall semester, it was determined that a number of players on the men's basketball team would become academically ineligible for the spring semester. Therefore, the college has decided to cancel the remainder of the season and focus efforts on the team's academic success. At the same time the college will be addressing why this situation occurred and what can be done to ensure that it does not recur in our athletics program.

As of January 1, 2007, the men's basketball team is considered in the off-season and all further games are canceled. Thank you for your support of CSMs athletics and our student athletes, and we seek your continued support as we strive for the future success of our student athletes in both their academic and athletic endeavors.
