RYAN RUSSELL NAMED ALL-AMERICAN

16, 2009 -
CSM men's soccer player Ryan Russell was named NJCAA All-American
Honorable Mention. Russell was tied for first in the nation in scoring
with 75 points, scoring 33 goals and 9 assists. He led the Hawks to the
championship game of the Region XX Tournament, as CSM finished with a record of
11-4-1.

FALL ATHLETES SELECTED FOR POST SEASON
HONORS
November 16, 2009 -
The College of Southern Maryland has completed one of its' most
successful fall seasons, with all three teams posting winning records. The
volleyball team finished the season 30-6, ranked 17th in the country. The
team advanced to the championship game of the Region XX Tournament. Men's
soccer also advanced to the championship game, finishing the season 11-4-1.
Women's soccer posted their best record in eight years, finishing the season
with a 9-6 record.
Several players were selected for post-season
honors. From the volleyball team

were First Team All Region XX,
Sarah
Cobaugh
was selected to the Second Team, and
Mazi
Tucker
was Honorable Mention. Ashley Wolfe was also
nominated for All-American.
Members of the men's soccer team to receive

Rudy
Morales, who were selected First Team Region XX.
Brad Powers
and
Antonio
Barone
were selected to the Second Team. Ryan Russell was
also nominated for All-American.
Three women's soccer players were selected second
team All MDJUCO;
Rachael Shapelow,
Alex Baker, and
Kelsey Worrill.

FORMER HAWK DAVID HAYES MAKES UNITED SOCCER
LEAGUE ALL-STAR TEAM
November 13, 2009 -
Former CSM soccer player David Hayes has been selected All League- First Team in
the United Soccer League. Hayes, 33, a member of the Portland Timbers, is
also one of four finalist for the USL First Division Defender of the Year.

MEN'S SOCCER TO FACE HAGERSTOWN IN REGION
XX TOURNAMENT
October 22, 2009 -
The men's soccer team has been seeded third in the Region XX
Tournament, and will receive a first round bye in the tournament. The team
will face Hagerstown in the semi-finals on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 3:00 PM.
The winner of that game will advance to the championship game on Saturday, Oct.
31 at 2:00 PM. Both the semi-finals and championship game will be played
at Harford.

HAWKS SHUTOUT HARFORD
October 6, 2009 -
The CSM men's soccer team defeated Harford 5-0, to improve to 8-3-1 overall, and
6-3-1 in MDJUCO. Ryan Russell had a hat trick in the first fifteen
minutes, to put the game away for the Hawks.

HAWKS TOPPLE UNBEATEN NOVA
September
28, 2009 -
The CSM men's soccer team defeated previously undefeated Northern
Virginia Community College 8-1, for the teams fifth win in a row. Ryan
Russell led the Hawk attack, scoring five goals for CSM.

HAWKS DEFEAT ALLEGANY IN HOME OPENER
September 18, 2009 -
The CSM men's soccer team snapped a three game losing streak, as
they defeated Allegany 6-1 in their home opener. The Hawks are now
undefeated on their home field in their last 34 home games, including two ties.
CSM last lost at home on September 24, 2004, when they fell to Essex (NJ) 4-3.
Derod Toney, Ryan Russell (2), Jasper Dender, and
Mulu Asihe (2), all found net for the Hawks. Dric Amaya (2), Russell,
Asihe, and Rudy Morales all had assists for CSM.
