HAWKS - ROCKVILLE PLAY TO SCORELESS TIE

Friday, October 18 -  On a crisp autumn day, two of the best teams in the MDJUCO squared off.  The crowd of 40 was treated to one of the best games of the season, and after 110 minutes of play, the score never changed, ending in a 0-0 tie.

Early on, Rockville (12-2-2) had the best chances, as the Hawks squandered two free kicks, sending the ball directly into the wall.  With 23:00 left, Scott Raley had CSM's best chance to score in the half,  when he broke in on the left side, and just missed on a crossing shot.  With 16:00 left, Thierry Tadzong just missed putting the Knights ahead when he hit the post after a wild scramble in front of the CSM goal.

CSM (11-3-1), controlled play for much of the second half, but couldn't find net.  With 30:00 left there was a  scramble in front of the Rockville goal, and both Brandon Evans and Olin Straus had chances, but couldn't get the ball past all the congestion in front of the net.  Minutes later Straus just missed on a header.

CSM kept the pressure on in the first overtime, and half way through there was another wild scramble in front of the Knights goal, but the Hawks came up empty.  With 2:00 left, David Wood made the save of the game, just tipping the ball over the net, to keep the score at 0-0.

Rockville had the best chance to score in the second overtime.  The ball came to Jon Bernard who had an open shot on the CSM net, and shot high.

It was a classic game, to end the 2002 home season.
