HAWKS LOSE HEARTBREAKER

Wednesday, September 3 - The men's soccer team lost a heartbreaker to defending Region Champion Essex 3-2 in the season opener at Essex.  The score was tied 1-1 at the half, with Brandon Catena scoring on a header after a great pass from Chad Johnson.

    CSM took a 2-1 lead early in the 2nd half, when Shawn Dixon scored a header off a cross from Wyatt Sagers.  CSM went on to dominate play, hitting the post and having two shots go just wide.

    With 15:00 left Essex scored the equalizer which revitalized the Knights.  Essex came alive, and scored the winning goal with 5:00 in a 3-2 come from behind win.

    The Hawks game on Friday against NOVA has been postponed until later in the season.  CSM will open the season at home on Tuesday at 4:00 against Anne Arundel.  It will be the second game of a doubleheader, as the Lady Hawks will open their season against Essex at 2:00.
