HAWKS EDGE ANNE ARUNDEL 1-0 FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN

September 29, 2005 - With 26:13 left in the game Dario Paul dribbled through three defenders and scored from 18 yards out for the games' only goal, as the men's soccer team defeated Anne Arundel (6-5, 3-5) in a MDJUCO game.

The game was a defensive struggle, with both teams tightening up their defense close to the goal.  CSM (10-1-1, 6-0-1) had a big edge in territorial play in the first half, but was only able to get three shots on goal.  The Hawks best scoring chance came midway through the half, when Dario Paul broke in on the left side, but Pioneer goalkeeper Nathan Unlappter made a diving save to keep the game scoreless.  CSM out shot Anne Arundel 3-1 for the half, and 9-4 for the game.

Anne Arundel was able to push the ball into the Hawks zone in the second half, but CSM's tight defense limited the Pioneers to just three shots in the second half.

Michael Shifflet had four saves in recording his fourth shut-out of the season for the Hawks

The Hawks will travel to Essex on Wednesday for a key MDJUCO conference game, before returning home to face Harford on Harvest Homecoming, Saturday, October 8 at 2:00 PM.
