MEN'S SOCCER DOMINATES GLOUCHESTER
August 28, 2008 - On a cloudy, breezy
day, the men's soccer team dominated Glouchester (NJ) to win their home
opener 11-1.
The Hawks scored just four minutes into the
game, as Marco Gaudio hit Justin Lambert who found net, giving CSM an early
1-0 lead. Marco Gaudio scored the next four goals, giving CSM a 5-0
lead mid-way through the first half. Foday Kamara, Justin Lambert, and
Kam Zeguiba had assists.
Ben Waldman made a high arching pass from 22
yards out to Justin Lambert who headed the ball in with 4:09 left, giving
CSM a 6-0 lead at halftime. The Hawks outshot the Roadrunner
14-3 for the half. Starting goalkeeper George Mansary made three saves
for the Hawks, while Glouchester keeper Nicholas Chiaffa stopped nine shots.
CSM (2-1) scored early in the 2nd half as
well, as Isiaka Kamara dribbled through the defense four minutes into the
half, putting the Hawks up 7-0. Kamara scored again at the 32:00 mark
after receiving a short pass from Marco Gaudio. Gaudio had four goals
and two assists on the day.
The Hawks scored three goals in three
minutes, to close out the scoring for CSM. Gary Carter headed in a
loose ball for CSM making the score 9-0. Ben Waldman fed Shaun
Kessler, and Justin Lambert fed Pewu Mulbah who dribbled through the
Roadrunner defense to put the Hawks up 11-0, with 20:19 to play.
Glouchester (0-1) scored the final goal of
the game when Shear Udin headed in a loose ball after a scramble in front of
the Hawk net.
CSM outshot Glouchester 21-6 for the game.
Chris Black made three saves in the second half for the Hawks, while
Glouchester reserve keeper Jason Smith had two saves.
The Hawks return to action on Sunday, August
31, when they take on Lakeland (Ohio). The game will be played at St.
Mary's College, with kick-off at 11:00 AM. |
