HAWKS WIN CSM SOFTBALL INVITATIONAL Monday, March 15 - The cold weather didn't cool off the hot bats of the Hawks, as they won the CSM Invitational Tournament. The Hawks defeated defending Division III national champion Anne Arundel 5-4 in the thrilling championship game. In the nine year history of the tournament, this was the first time the Hawks have won the tournament. Erica Bates, who pitched a no hitter in the semi-final game against Beaver, and Jamea Waltersdorf, whose inside the park homerun in the top of the seventh of the championship game proved to be the winning run, were named to the All - Tournament Team. Heather Turner was named the tournament's Most Valuable Pitcher. Turner pitched out of several jams in the championship game, and induced the last Anne Arundel batter to ground out with the tying run on third to clinch the championship for CSM. Danielle Sturman was the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Sturman had a hot bat throughout the tournament, and broke up a 3-3 tie in the championship game, hitting a double and scoring the go ahead run in the 6th inning. 2004 Tournament Results Saturday Results Pool B Pool D B - D Pool Games
