2005 SOFTBALL PREVIEW

March 3, 2005 - The 2005 season will provide a challenge for this young team, with only two players returning from last year’s Region XX championship squad. Newcomers Jessica Perry and Jessica Balta will handle the pitching duties this year. Ashley Cook and Megan Starr will platoon between catching and first base. The versatile Jamie Buckler will step in at shortstop with Dawn Leigh, Melissa Boswell, and Carrie Fox rounding out the infield. Somer Miller brings speed to the center field position and will be flanked by Tina Dittami and Candy Wyant. Renee Roberts and Kimmie Patton will provide much needed depth to the outfield. Despite the relative inexperience of this year’s team, the coaching staff expects the Hawks to be highly competitive in the rugged Maryland JUCO conference.
