2006 SOFTBALL OUTLOOK

March 9, 2006 - After a disappointing 10-11 finish in 2005, the 2006 team will strive to return the program to it's winning ways.  The majority of the pitching will be handled by newcomer Amanda Johnston from Great Mills.  She was also a key pitcher for the 2005 Big League Softball team.  She will be backed up by Mandy Martin and Autumn Boyd.

Ashley Cook (.420) and Dawn Leigh (.321), Kimmie Patton, and Megan Starr (currently injured), return from last year's team and will provide needed leadership.  The team has been bolstered by the return of red shirt sophomore Danielle Sturman.  Danielle was an All Region XX and Maryland JUCO choice on the 2004 team that finished in the top 10 in the country.

Betty Tennison will play centerfield and the versatile Autumn Boyd will be play shortstop, catcher, and pitcher.  Mandy Martin, Katrina Garner, and Stephanie Young, from La Plata, will see extensive action.  Virginia Smith (Thomas Stone) will see time in both the infield and outfield.  Andrea Bell (Leonardtown) will see action at both short and the outfield.

The 2006 team is considerably stronger then the 2005 team.  The coaching staff expects a successful year with a return to the upper echelons of the rugged Maryland JUCO Conference.

The team opens the season on Friday, March 10 hosting Beaver at 2:00 PM.
