In Memory of Tommy Morrison
August 30, 1941 - May 7, 2008

Tommy Morrison became Head Coach at the College of Southern Maryland in 1995.  In his 12 years as Hawks head coach Tommy Morrison (1995 - 2006), his record was 286-133-1, winning three MDJUCO titles, three Region XX Championships, and making three appearances in the National Tournament.  Tommy was named Coach of the Year three times, and his teams were ranked 7th in the country three times.

Tommy begin coaching at CSM in 1986, when, together with his long time friend and coaching partner John Creaturo, he helped revive the softball program at CSM.  He served as assistant coach for nine seasons, and took over the head coaching job when John Creaturo was transferred out of the area.  Creaturo returned in 1999 to serve as Tommy's assistant coach.

Together Tommy Morrison and John Creaturo's record was 429-197-1, with eight MDJUCO titles, seven Region XX Championships, six trips to the national tournament, and seven of their teams were nationally ranked.  In addition to Tommy's three years, John Creaturo was Coach of the Year five times.  In 2007 Tommy Morrison and John Creaturo were inducted into the CSM Hall of Fame.

Tommy was deeply devoted to his players, and through fund raising efforts, made sure all of his players had jackets, cleats, and bags each season.  Long before meal money was established at CSM, Tommy raised the funds so his team could have a team meal after every away game.  He continued to tutor students even after his retirement.

He was a gentleman of the game, and he is missed by the CSM family.
