VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS BALTIMORE FOR 4TH
STRAIGHT
October 11, 2005 -
CSM swept Baltimore for their fourth win in a
row, sweeping the Panthers 30-8, 30-7, 30-12 to win the match 3-0. The
Hawks play has been impressive, as every match has been a three game sweep
during their winning streak. It was a dominating performance by
the Hawks, as their served up 33 aces.
In the first game the Hawks raced to a 11-1 lead and never looked back.
Virginia Smith had four aces during the run and Jamea Waltersdorff, Katie
Tyner, and Vanessa Thompson each had a kill during the run. Later in
the game Thompson added three aces and a kill, Jamea Waltersdorff had a
kill, block, and two aces, and Janea Burt had two kills.
The second game was tight early, as back to back aces by Josephine Pinkney
pulled Baltimore (0-5) within a point at 5-4. However CSM (16-13, 7-1)
went on a 9-0 run to put the game out of reach at 15-4. Becky Peters
had three aces and three kills, Stephanie Fowler had four aces, Rachel Olup
had a kill, and Megan Fox had an ace as well. Megan Starr put the
exclamation point on the contest, serving five consecutive aces to end the
game.
In the final game, CSM raced to a 10-1 lead and never looked back.
Jamea Waltersdorff had three consecutive aces during the early run,
finishing with four for the game to go with her two kills. Megan Starr
and Rachel Olup added two aces, and Stephanie Fowler, Megan Fox, and Becky
Peters had one each.
CSM will travel to Garrett on Thursday, before participating in the
Hagerstown Tournament October 14 and 15.
