The Women's Basketball Team got off to a flying start, beating Essex Community College 104-37. The team effort consisted of pressure defense and balanced scoring by a host of players. The Hawks were led by shooting sensation Delaney Buckley's 21 points, power forward Nkem Ifejika’s double-double (19 points 15 rebounds), and point guard Natasha Denny’s all around floor game (18 points 6 assists 3 steals). Other contributions came from the teams’ captains, Tiana Wilson (12 points 6 rebounds 5 steals) and the former Westlake star Kristen Tucker (10 points 5 assists).
The second game produced the same results as the Lady Hawks jumped out to a 61-8 half-time lead, and never looked back, as they finished off Anne Arundel Community College 105-17 to end the week. Shining bright for the College of Southern Maryland was Natasha Denny (24 points, 9 rebounds), Stephanie Ellis (14 points 5 assists), center Nikia Roper (12 points 11 rebounds), and both captains, Tiana Wilson and Kristen Tucker who chipped in 11 points respectively.
In the final home game before the Thanksgiving holiday, the Lady Hawks got their first test vs. Allegany Community College. CSM passed with flying colors, winning 117-32 against a veteran team. The former Westlake star, Kristen Tucker stepped up her game, along with Natasha Denny, as they both lead the Lady Hawks in scoring with 18 points, and seven other players scored in double figures. Three players finished with 17 points, captain Tiana Wilson (7 rebounds 4 steals), power forward Nkem Ifejika (12 rebounds) and shooting guard Delanye Buckley , from Caroline High School. The other two players to score in double figures were defensive star Stephanie Ellis, (16 points 4 assists, 4 steals) and center Nikia Roper (12 points, 8 boards), giving her back to back games she has scored in double figures.
